We are a non-profit making organisation and any surplus money we generate will be reinvested back into the company or used to provide additional services to the community. We are currently applying to The Charity Commission of England and Wales for registration as a charity.
Anglia Community Leisure is incorporated under the Companies Act 1985 as a Company (Limited by Guarantee). Company No. 6035362.
Our Trustee Board comprises up to 12 Trustees, two of which can be from Forest Heath District Council. At the moment we have seven Trustees drawn from the local community and we will soon be recruiting for more. The Council is represented by two councillors who act as observers.
The Chairman is Richard Balfe and Vice Chairman is Tim Young. Click here for the personal profiles of all the Trustees. At least five meetings will be held annually following the AGM in June. We are happy to hear from people who would be intrested in becoming a Trustee. Please contact us for more information.
Tony Bass is our Chief Executive and he has operational control of the company, supported by his Leisure Facilities Manager, Andy Killin, and an operational management and administrative team.
Our Head Office is at the Newmarket Leisure Centre.
We have around 50 members of staff who, together with a range of casual staff, provide an extensive range of leisure activities at the various facilities.
We have recently secured a management agreement with Forest Heath District Council to manage a range of their leisure facilities and services. We will also be managing the Council’s new flagship building, Newmarket Leisure Centre, following a major re-investment to provide a new swimming pool and improved facilities for the town.
Forest Heath District Council will still own the facilities and so they will continue to influence and invest in their future development. They will also retain the responsibility to set the main leisure facility charges. Together we will work to continually improve the facilities and services we offer.
We support the development of leisure and culture in its wider form and we will be looking to work with more partners to do all we can to improve the facilities and opportunities available to local people.
