Brandon girls bend it like Beckham!

Girls under 9 are being encouraged to join up for football coaching at Brandon Leisure Centre to show the boys how it’s done in the build up to this year’s World Cup frenzy!

The new year’s coaching for Brandon Lasses (ages 6 – 9) is now taking place on Fridays from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and the team is keen to attract potential new players. The club is an FA Charter Standard Development Club so operates to a high standard and previously won the ‘Club of the Year Award’. This year the club has just received funding from Sports Unlimited to help develop the club and increase numbers as they have recently begun competing in matches across the county.

Neil Gilmore, Leisure Development Officer for Anglia Community Leisure, says: “Both the Brandon Lasses and Ladies Football Clubs are doing well but we are keen to boost numbers and introduce girls to the sport as early as possible so this coaching will be the perfect way to start. With the World Cup taking place this summer, football fever will soon be upon us, and this is a chance for the girls to be ahead of the game!”
